Japanese scope company Sightron has flown under the radar for many hunters and shooters in the U.S. But they’ve been producing mid-to-high-level optics since 1993, and they just announced a new-and-improved line of hunting scopes geared to the budget-conscious among us.
Sightron’s S1 series has been around since 2002, but at SHOT Show 2022, the company reintroduced the second generation of this popular line of one-inch riflescopes.
The Gen 2 S1 scopes are designed to be lighter and clearer than their predecessors, and company engineers increased both sight picture and eye relief.
Six models will be available later this summer:
- 1.75-5×32 with one reticle option
- 3-9×40 with three reticle option
- 3.5-10×50 G2 with one reticle options
- 4-12×40 with two reticle options
- 4-12×40 AO (adjustable objective front focus) G2 with two reticle options
All scopes are constructed from a lightweight aluminum tube that is O-ring sealed, air purged, and filled with nitrogen gas for a waterproof and fogproof seal.
The company has not announced prices, but reps we spoke with said that the optics would be competitive with similar lines of affordable hunting scopes offered by other companies.
Looking through the scopes on the SHOT Show floor, the images appeared clear and bright. Reticle options will depend on the scope, but designs range from simple crosshairs to two holdover marks to a full MOA or MIL-DOT grid for windage and elevation.
Scope weights will range from 12.9 ounces to 16.2 ounces.
For hunters looking for a more premium experience, Sightron also introduced a new 1-6×24 S6 scope available in a 30mm second focal plane and a 34mm first focal plane. The SFP is available in MOA and the FFP comes with a milliradian reticle. Both reticles are illuminated.
The new S6 scope uses premium Japanese glass for a super clear image. We were impressed with the image quality even while peering through the scopes on the SHOT Show floor.
No MSRP has been announced for the new S6 scope.
All Sightron scopes come with their Lifetime Performance Guarantee. If users experience an issue with any of their scopes, they’ll fix it or replace it at no charge.
