The Famous Stone Glacier Skyscraper 2P
The Stone Glacier Skyscraper 2P was released in 2020 to much acclaim by the backcountry hunting world. Many mountain hunters couldn’t wait to get their hands on the Bozeman, Montana-based company’s take on a 4-season shelter, myself included. I’d made do with a couple of 3-season tents for sheep and goat hunting over the years but was excited to see what the Skyscraper was made of. While supply chain issues kept me from getting to use one in August, I had a tent by October for a week-and-a-half-long elk hunt. I weathered many nights alone in it, riding out some massive storms of 30 mph sustained wind with gusts up to 40mph. With the tent properly guyed out, I had no issue despite the weather’s best effort to turn the shelter to ribbons.
Skyscraper 2P Structure
The Skyscraper 2P’s (two-person) claim to fame is its strength-to-weight ratio, much appreciated by those who rely on their tent in the backcountry for life-giving shelter and can’t afford a malfunction. The beefy 10.65mm DAC poles and double-wall design mean hunters can rest easy when they get back to camp after a long day of pounding the mountains, no matter the conditions.
Setup is a breeze with the WebTruss technology, a unique pole system that adds another layer of strength to the low-profile Skyscraper. I set mine up for the first time in under ten minutes alone and have gotten progressively faster as I familiarize myself with the system. Another nice touch, there are color-coded tabs on the tent body and fly to match them right the first time when setting up.
With the tent up, a hunter can take advantage of two good-sized vestibules (11 sq ft each), one at either door. I found them big enough to store my pack in one and my boots and clothes in the other, leaving plenty of room for my sleeping pad, bag, and tent necessities inside.

Skyscraper 2P Features
Stone Glacier boasts an employee roster of hardcore, avid hunters who pay attention to the details. This is most noticeable as a customer becomes familiar with their SG gear and the Skyscraper is no exception. Shortened top zipper tabs on the vestibule doors keep a hunter from grabbing them accidentally and zipping from the top down. I found this feature especially handy getting back to camp after dark. Another nice after-dark feature is the reflective guy lines. Shine a headlamp from a hundred yards away or more and the guy lines reflect, revealing the tent no matter how dark. SG has included eight interior pockets for plenty of organization options, even with two people.
